About MBOGC's Montana WebMapper
The MBOGC's Montana WebMapper was developed to provide the citizens of Montana, the oil & gas producing industry, and other interested persons the ability to visually examine the spatial location of oil & gas producing wells throughout the state as related to roads, townships, rivers, and other cultural features. This information is currently being managed in MBOGC's implementation of the Risk Based Data Management System (RBDMS; developed by ALL Consulting), which originated as a result of funding from the Department of Energy's National Petroleum Technology Office (NPTO) through a grant to the Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC). MBOGC continues to be an active participant in GWPC's ongoing effort to provide the citizens of the United States with relevant natural resource information to make informed decisions in protecting our nation's groundwater.
The MBOGC's Montana WebMapper was developed by ALL Consulting (Tulsa, Oklahoma) using Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) ArcIMS. The WebMapper application creates output files, including HTML and JavaScript files (.js), that form the foundation of the HTML Viewer. HTML files are used to generate web page content, and the JavaScript functions allow for user interaction with the map. Map images are created on a real-time basis.
Project Planning and Analysis Reports employ ALL Consulting's data aggregation engine that matches the land sections defined by the user to the available data relating to water resources, cultural resources, livestock, industry, air quality, and other select data points. The system performs statistical calculations and reports the data specific to the area of consideration for the foundation of Best Management Practices to develop the area.
MBOGC and ALL Consulting would like to acknowledge the Montana State Library Natural Resource Information System and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for many of the GIS data coverages and data used in this project.
